Ask a question about English > Is 'Customasation' a word?
Hello Peo,
My initial reaction was "No, it's just a misspelling of "customisation / customization". I had a look on Google and it is in use on several American websites where users chat about their computer games. They use it as if it were "customisation".
It may be an official American spelling, although I haven't yet found any official documents containing it. There was some very dodgy spelling by the contributors eg "graphficks" so I'm not convinced it is correct and will continue looking.
For the sake of your presentation I would use "customisation / customization" and I will get back to you as soon as I can find some more concrete evidence that "customasation" is an official American spelling. It certainly looks very odd to the English eye.
Regards,
Pat
I have now checked 5 online American English dictionaries and the word "customasation" was not found. I can imagine that the word "customisation" sounds like "customasation" in some American accents, but it's not the correct spelling in either country.

Hi
I'm working with some slides for a short presentation I'm supposed to hold on wednesday. I had the file sent over to me from the marketing people and now I'm sabring it down to something somewhat understandable. One of the slides contains the word 'Customasation'. Is that a word really? If it is I'm happy because it is already well established in our organisation. I'f not I will go and hit somebody in the head with the Collins Cobuild. Please advise.
